City of College Park

Through assistance from the College Park Development/Main Street Office, new specialty businesses are replacing once vacant storefronts and transitional businesses. Successful business recruitment incentives, including public-private partnership, have brought life to numerous historic buildings on Main Street, creating exciting shopping venues for residents and visitors in this metro-Atlanta community. Located at the heart of four major transportation systems - Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, MARTA rapid transit, interstate highways and a railway - College Park's Main Street District serves as the gateway to Georgia's global city.

In its first three years of existence over five million dollars in investments have been made on Main Street alone with an estimated 500 million in surrounding developments that will ensure economic stability in the future. A city-initiated revolving fund has been utilized to save endangered properties from deterioration and incompatible use. A successful first project has been the recruitment of Oscar's Restaurant. This establishment has introduced fine European dining to this once - sleepy Main Street. A partnership with the community has encouraged public ownership in downtown. “Adopt-A-Building Day” has resulted in face-lifts for Main Street properties and once again created a sense of pride in downtown.

Historic preservation is the foundation for College Park's Main Street revitalization. New design standards and Zoning Ordinances serve to guide current and future projects on this mile-long historic corridor. A professional Main Street staff assists with the business recruitment and development as well as design assistance and project management.
